Unichem has expanded its global reach by the acquisition of 100% stake in Niche Generics Ltd , UK in December 2006.

Niche Generics Ltd is the 100% owned subsidiary of Unichem Laboratories Ltd. specializing in the development, licensing and marketing of certain niche products. Niche Generics serves to give Unichem a firm foot holding in the highly developed European markets.

Niche Generics operates out of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

• UK: Registered office of Niche Generics is at Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The focus here is on New Business Development and Marketing for UK, Ireland and rest of Europe.
  
  
  
  
• Ireland : There are two facilities - a factory in Dublin and a regulatory office based in Clonmel.
  
  
  
  

Currently Niche products are marketed directly to wholesalers, pharmacists in community and hospitals in the UK and Ireland. In rest of Europe Niche products are marketed through the indigenous generic companies.

Niche Generics' profitable growth primarily depends upon its ability to develop products, in time to meet the brand leader's patent expiry. To this end, Niche collaborates and works closely with Unichem scientists and executives to meet mutual objectives.
